Alignment or Resistance

Jan 12, 2022

You know I am always going to start with a question. So here it is…. Have you ever driven a car that was out of alignment?  What does that feel like?  Don’t you have to constantly adjust the steering wheel to keep you on track and not veer off the road?  And of course the steering  wheel was resisting the entire time because it was misaligned.

Alignment in your vehicle assures your tires meet the road at the proper angle, your wheels are pointing straight and your tires are centered in the wheel wells. It adjusts the angles of your wheels for best gas mileage, proper road contact, a smooth ride, and the longest tire life.

What causes bad alignment in your vehicle?  There are environmental conditions, driver error (hitting the potholes) and wear and tear of suspension.  All of these can shorten the life of your tires and ultimately your vehicle. When the vehicle is in alignment it’s smooth driving.

Well the same things happen to our body, minds and spirit.  In order for you to perform at your peak, your mind,  body and spirit need to be in alignment.  When you are out of alignment the road in life becomes bumpy.

Signs of being out of alignment show up in the following ways: headaches, joint or muscle pain, sitting too much, back pain, and limited range of motion. What would you do?  Most people head over to the chiropractor to re-align the body for peak performance just like you would take your car in for an alignment. That’s terrific.  Having your physical body and in alignment is one part. And we have to go deeper than just the physical.

Are you in complete alignment with the direction you want to go in life and are you getting the best mileage for your effort.  You know when you are out of alignment and some of us need a little bit of help with a course correction.  Just like you take your automobile to get realigned, we must service ourselves.

While speaking with my clients, I can immediately sense when they are out of alignment; resistance shows up and I work with them on course correction so the body, mind and spirit return to an aligned position. When realignment occurs we cruise down the road and function at peak performance to achieve the desired life they want.

I was out of alignment one day this week and had to do a reality check.  I could not get a thing done….or I thought I could not.  I went and did a quick 5 minute mediation and tapped into my purpose: to be a change angel and inspire others.  Done….back on track.

Chicken Soup for the Soul, Author Jack Canfield once said, “the things that bring you the greatest joy are in alignment with your purpose.”

Are you living in alignment with your purpose?

It's very important for you to know that living in alignment with your life purpose means that you let go of control. You are no longer attached to how things should be, to how life should unfold and to how the world around you should behave.  When we are out of alignment we feel like we are struggling.  Here’s another analogy; if you enjoy swimming, it’s like swimming against the current than with it.  Ever notice that when you swim with the current, it’s effortless (well not completely) but you feel in tune with the water and it’s so much easier.  You are not struggling.

To be performing at your peak, you need to bring yourself mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually into complete alignment with the outcome and desires you truly want.

My friend, Christy Whitman just released her new book, The Desire Factor and she shares several principals, the first being the Principle of Alignment.  She says, getting into alignment is the first and most difficult thing for people, because there are always deeper degrees of alignment. Alignment is the place where the inner work needs to done.  When we are feeling good, we are in alignment. When we feel bad, we are out of alignment and those negative feelings are an indication that we have something going on that is not of the Divine. The words we are speaking, the thoughts we are thinking, the perspective we are holding, the emotions we are feeling (or not), and the actions we are taking must all be in alignment. This step is really about opening your heart and mind to your Divine Nature.

I highly recommend you purchase the book.  There are some fabulous exercises and meditations to bring you back in alignment with your desires and purpose.

This week I challenge you to tune yourself up and get back in alignment with the desires you want to create in your life.  Focus on the one thing necessary for you to move your career, health, or relationship back into alignment for smooth riding.
